Lonely Planet review for Singapore Botanic Gardens
If Singapore’s urban planners could manufacture paradise, it wouldn’t look too different from the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The front entrance leads to an idyllic koi pond. On weekends, laughing children feed the multicoloured fish. Right behind, a waterfall gurgles and birds hop around the water’s edge, at ease with the locals.

Lovely place. An oasis of peace and manicured nature.
jopro recommends this,
I am especially in love with the southern part of the Gardens (entrance when taking the bus from Orchard) with its turtle-filled lake, miniature waterfall, and great spots to simply lie around (check the area where concerts are given).
The experience with the northern part is a little worse. That's where I tried to get out and take the bus the first time I visited. It borders a huge and ugly construction site, some unappealing places and it takes a while to get to the confusing bus stop which does not service many buses back to the centre of the city.
Tip: use the same direction as where you came from to get back.
