Inspire your inner Russian-speaker:

Extra Class Language Centre (315 2720; www.learnrussian.ru) Individual and group courses include entertainment activities as well as weekly lectures on Russian culture and history. Accommodation is with a local Russian family.

Herzen State Pedagogical University (314 7859; www.herzen.spb.ru) Caters mostly to students, offering semester-long courses and dormitory lodging.

Liden & Denz (334 0788; www.lidenz.ru) More expensive courses service the business and diplomatic community with less-intensive evening courses.
