When to go & weather

Weather

As in most of Russia, thermometers go as far below zero as above. Winters are cold of course - Sakha Republic is home to the world's coldest inhabited town (Oymyakon, which hits -50°C in January). The sea brings warmer temperatures in winter, cooler in summer - Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky drop to only -10°C, and rarely go above the 20s in summer (fog often fills in though). Khabarovsk, the sunniest town in the Far East, is also the hottest - temperatures sometimes reach the mid-30s in July.
