Book seats for InterCity (03-442 4100; www.intercity.co.nz) trips in the i-SITE. It offers daily bus services from Queenstown to Christchurch ($80), Te Anau ($35), Milford Sound ($80), Dunedin ($42) and Invercargill ($50), plus a daily West Coast service to the glaciers ($116) via Wanaka ($32) and Haast Pass ($67). Buses leave from the Athol St bus terminal. Note that some buses may be branded Newmans.

Naked Bus (www.nakedbus.com) travels to the West Coast, Te Anau, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.

The Bottom Bus (www.bottombus.co.nz) does a loop service around the south of the South Island. Book at the Info & Track Centre (03-442 9708; 37 Shotover St).

Shuttles charge around $20 to $25 to Wanaka, $40 to Dunedin, $30 to Te Anau and $50 to Christchurch. Book at iSITE.

Atomic Shuttles (03-349 0697; www.atomictravel.co.nz) Travels to Wanaka, Christchurch, Dunedin, Greymouth and Invercargill.

Catch-a-Bus (03-479 9960) Heads to Dunedin.

K Bus (03-358 8355; www.kbus.co.nz) Services to Twizel (for Mt Cook), Christchurch and Wanaka.

Wanaka Connexions (03-443 9122; www.time2.co.nz) Offers regular services to Wanaka.

Air New Zealand (0800 737 000, 03-441 1900; www.airnz.co.nz; 8 Church St) has direct daily flights between Queenstown and Auckland (from $139), Wellington (from $149) and Christchurch (from $89) with connections to Wanaka. Qantas (0800 808 767, 03-379 6504; www.qantas.co.nz) has flights to Auckland (from $139), Christchurch (from $100), and Rotorua (from $179).
