Hello, I plan on riding a motorbike between Yangon and Pyay and im looking for somewhere to sleep along the way. Closer to Yangon than Pyay would be prefferable. Does anyone know if any town along the way have foreigner approved hotels/guesthouses? Family run/cheap is prefferable! Perhaps the towns of Hmawbi, Taik Kyi or Tharrawady have something? thanks for the advice

I have no idea how I did this, but I think I messed up my myanmar e visa name order. The visa form asked for my name as it EXACTLY appears on my passport I put down my first name, middle name, last, but I think my passport (USA) reads last, first, middle.

Do you know if this is a problem? On the information page of my passport the first line is last name, second line is first name, initial.

Spelling is correct.

Should I re-apply? Was accepted within 2 hours

Hi, I'm trying to plan a short trip (14-16 days) covering southern Myanmar. I'd like to visit at least Bago (1 day), Kyaiktiyo (1 day), Moulmein (2-3 days), Hpa An (2-3 days), Ye (1 day), Dawei (2-3 days), but as I would like to include at least 2 or 3 days of good snorkeling, I'm wondering if it worths to go further south (Mergui?) or if there is any good spot near Dawei. I understand that in Mergui Islands there is no accommodation and often permits are required, but maybe is possibile to rent…

Hi all
Me and my partner are planning (very last minute) our 3 week itinerary for Myanmar arriving into Yangon on 3rd Oct

Currently have Yangon (3 nights) booked but are looking at the below destinations although the route is still work in progress
Bagan (2-3 nights)
Mandalay (2-3 nights)
Hsipaw (1-2 nights)
Kalaw - Inle Lake (is this worth the trek?)
Kyaukame (1-2 nights)
Ngapali (is this worth visiting in October?) (2-3 nights)
Back to Yangon to fly out to Laos

We like trekking, history, nature and…

Hi again,

I was wondering how easy it is to book a one day trek around Kalaw for the next day when you arrive in Kalaw (in February)? We'll be taking the train from Thazi early in the morning and arrive in Kalaw around midday, I think. And we would like to take a day hike around the Kalaw area the next day. We might have time for a 2d/1n trek as well, if we leave for Inle Lake later the next day. But we'd rather not arrive too late in Nyaungshwe, so that we have more time there. We're not…

I have visited Myanmar several times and I plan to go back this winter and visit some favorite places and some I have not visited before. In the east I plan to visit Pathein, Chaungtha/NgweSaung, Ngapali Beach, Sittwe and MraukU. In central Myanmar I hope to visit Pyay, Bagen, and Mandalay (and some smaller places). My problem is how to travel between the coastal cities and also from some coastal city and the central Myanmar cities.

Pathein and Chaungtha/NgweSaung make one easily traveled…

There are four of us travelling to Myanmar next late April early May. We are planning on

2 Nights Yangoon
day train
3 Nights Mandalay
boat
3 Nights Bagan
night bus
1 Night Yangoon
day bus
3 Nights Ngwe Saung
day bus
2 Nights Yangoon

Does this seem about right? We don't want to be rushing as we realise it will be hot at this time of year. We are four neighbours not old but not young either.

I have read that buses for Ngwe Saung leave from Hlaing Thar Yar Bus Station.

Main question I was wondering if…

Hi again,
our flight to Yangon is scheduled to arrive at 14:00h. The last onward flight to Nyaung U seems to leave at 15:30h, so we will stay overnight in Yangon and fly the next day. I'm wondering where we should by the ticket. Generally, buying at a local agent is recommended but we'd really want to get on the next day's flight, so booking online looks a better option. Question is whether we should book directly online with, in this case, KBZ or e-mail a local agent and get the tickets from…
