we just booked ticket from Chiang Mai to Mandalay.
how much time should we spend in Mandalay?
And then, what is the best way to get to Inle Lake? best place to stay?
we are then traveling to Bagan. any suggestions on how to reach Bagan from Inle Lake?
any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
We are flying into Yangon via Thailand in early December landing at 8:45 a.m. with a departure from domestic terminal at 10:30 a.m. to Heho. We will have luggage + 2 bikes (in boxes). Any idea how long it takes to get through customs/immigration, get luggage and go to domestic terminal? Assuming Thai flight in on time, do you think we'll make our connection? We'll be using our eVisas.
I plan a solo 3 week trip next month, around central – northeast Myanmar, trying to minimize or even better :) exclude the travel agents (maybe not possible - nor wise!)
My initial idea is to do a loop Bagan –Mandalay – Hsipaw – Inle lake and back to Yangon, by public transport, a bit of boat rides where it is interesting, some easy trekking to experience nature and local villages, while keeping budget costs low as possible, maybe 30-50 $/day?
Could you please suggest a rough idea…
I'm thinking of going to Myanmar for 10 days in November - my idea is to hop over to Bagan for 2-3 days and then fly south and go on a sailing trip in the Mergui archiplago. However, I just wondered - how nice are they really? I read some reviews that said the beaches on some of the islands have glass and are a bit dirty whereas others say they are amazing and some photos look really amazing. I'm guessing the tour boats operating in the area aren't amazing but I'm assuming they have…
HI FRIENDS!! Will be traveling to Myanmar from Jan 1- Jan 15, 2017. Looking for any advice on best places to visit.
I am 38 and will be traveling with my very able bodied/well traveled/adventurous mother. I have traveled extensively through SE Asia, but first time to Burma. Thinking of 3-4 locations so we are not traveling on flights/buses too often. We both LOVE food, so any suggestions on markets, cooking classes, places to try local food, stalls, restaurants, etc would be most welcome.…
me and my girlfriend traveling to Myanmar Dec/Jan this year. As it is my girlfriends birthday in the middle of the trip, I'm looking for some special trips/excursion for her birthday present :)
The perfect thing would be balloning in Pagan, but we already booked this experience - so it wouldn't be any surprise anymore...
My second idea was going on a private boat trip (sailing boat would be cool) in Ngapali Beach. Can anyone recommend any company for this sort of thing?
Hey folks! My wife and I are going to spend a little time in Burma after rock climbing in Thailand.
If we're there during peak season, 12/19 or so until 12/29, how difficult/expensive will it be to find accommodation etc? Would we need to book in advance? If we had our tent with us would that make things any easier?
Suggestions for itinerary? We love the outdoors, hiking, food and connecting with people.

Does anyone have recent information/experiences to share on traveling from Yangon to Bagan by bus? We would love to go by day to see the countryside, but many sources say that all buses on this route go by night - is this still true? We arrive in Yangon 3 days before traveling to Bagan (it's the start of our mid-November 4 week trip); is this enough time to get tickets, or should we somehow try to book from home due to the high season?
