Montenegro uses the euro. ATMs accepting Visa, MasterCard and their variants are widespread in major towns. MasterCard, Visa and Diners Club are widely accepted by businesses too. ATMs tend to dish out big notes which can be hard to break. Don’t rely on restaurants, shops or smaller hotels accepting credit cards. Western Union transfers can be made at most banks and major post offices. Most banks cash hard-currency travellers cheques and again the euro is preferable. Tipping isn’t expected although it’s common to round up to the nearest euro.
