We're a group of five Middle Eastern gentlemen in our 20s going for a week around Malé this September. It's our first time there and would love some tips and highly recommended destinations to go to. If you'll be around there too why not meet up?! Cheers
So excited, in a few days I will spend a week on the island Dharavandhoo! Has anyone been there? Does anyone know if we can lay on the beach in our bikini? What about swimming? Do I need to cover up completely while being in the water? I'm prepared to cover up though. But I was just wondering.
And we have planned several boat trips including snorkeling. Do I still need to cover up on these trips: long pants and t-shirts? I've seen pics with people just laying on the beach but I am…
I am about to book a 7-day honeymoon at one of the many resorts in the Maledives.
My feeling says that there is not much on these islands than that one resort and therefore it might be most convenient to book All Inclusive (no other choises anyway for eating and drinking).
Point is that All Inclusive makes it immensly expensive!
Are the drinks expensive in these resorts? Could full board be a better option?
What can you advise? Breakfast only / Half board / Full board / All inclusive.
Anyone would be in Maldives between those dates? I'm planning to do an Asian Trip but not sure yet which places to go. But I'm pretty sure I will be in Maldives and SIngapore. I'm planning to include Malaysia and maybe Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
I hope this is not off topic. What happens if they find some coral (or shells) in your luggage at Male airport? I found a small hearth shaped dead coral on the beach and wondered whether I could be able to bring it home.
Does anybody have experience with this?
Planing a 6 month career break. First stop Sri Lanka...... Start in September and going to be leaving Sri Lanka after 30 days. As its so close would love to go to the Maldives.... Solo traveler would it be worth going? Or is it full on rain at this time!?
We are travelling to see our family in Western Australia in October and planning a couple of weeks in the Maldives en route.
So many options! We are a fairly fit mid-late sixties couple looking for a quiet stay to enjoy relaxing beach life with some swimming and snorkelling - preferably snorkelling close to the shore for a nervous snorkeller - me!
We are hoping to book a small hotel or guest house rather than the huge 5* resort hotels if possible.
Any advice on location and accommodation…
We are looking after our visit to Sri Lanka to go to the Maldives.
However we are stuck with the July month.
I do read on the internet different stories regarding the weather.
Is there anyone here with experience traveling in July to the Maldives?
Thanks in advance.
I have a few questions which I hope people can help me with.
Is July / August a good time to visit ?
Are there backpacking opportunities in the Maldives ? I want to visit to do some diving.
Can you access the good diving as a backpacker ?
Are there cheap flights from India ?
How much is the budget diving in the region ?
Can anyone give any recommendations ?
Thanks so much to anyone who can help.
P.S. Can anyone compare it to Raja Ampat ?
My friend and I will be backpacking in Sri Lanka in June and could potentially stopover in the Maldives for up to 5 days with no difference in flight route/price. I understand Maldives are very much targeted to honeymooners and luxury-seekers, but I have also read backpackers testimonies that sound great. I just wanted to get some opinions in addition to what I've been reading.
- How possible is island-hopping? If so, with only 5 days I dont think we'd make it to more than two…
