My wife and I will be in Sri Lanka with our young (2 year old daughter) and are considering a short trip to the Maldives.
We'd rather stay at a guesthouse on a local island than at a resort - we prefer this sort of travelling and aren't looking for luxury.
If at all possible we'd love to stay somewhere with a really nice public beach, with snorkelling just off the beach.
Can anyone recommend a local island with good beach snorkelling?
Broader thoughts about local islands in the Maldives also…
Going to the Maldives in July and spending most of our time in Maafushi. It appears from internet searching that there is an ATM in Maafushi. Does anyone have any info on its existence/reliability?
I'm thinking of going to the Maldives in early August for approx 1week. There will be three of us- myself, my wife and our 4 year old daughter. I'd appreciate any advice on some or all of the following points:
Accommodation- resorts? Recommendations? Are there many kid friendly resorts and hotels?
Diving- The best dive sites and packages. Recommendations for dive companies
Excursions/day trips- What are the must see sites? How accessible are they with kids?
I am not really a beach/ocean person and I am a bad swimmer, actually. But I do like the occasional snorkeling (and I am not too proud to use a flotation device).
I am planning to fly from Hong Kong to the 'stans in April next year - and am thinking of a stopover in Maldives to see that country. For a 3 days/ 2 nights stay, can someone recommend a budget (not bare bones but lower middle range) itinerary with good snorkeling?
Hi we are travelling Maldives at Christmas to a prohibited island and they have said no alcohol.....can we take our own for our room for instance? We don't wish to offend but are not completely happy about a dry Christmas so to speak ...any one out there done similar??
Many thanks Jaynie
Hi, I am planning a trip the Maldives for this June (will be in the Maldives for 8 nights). I am so overwhelmed by the amount of islands and resorts to choose from. My husband and I are looking for a luxury resort (5*) with overwater villas. We don't have any resort requirements except we would like to dive (I know there are different companies that will pick you up from your hotel so the resort itself does not have to offer diving) and a spa on property would be great too. I know that this…
I'm going to the Maldives in September - the Jimmy Barnes 3 concerts in 7 nights concert package. I'm really looking forward to the trip and the entire experience.
However, the food side of things has got me a bit worried. Breakfast is included and there are lunch and lunch/dinner packages available. However, the lunch/dinner packages are $NZ168 per day.. And when I look at the menus I see that there is very little that I would eat i.e I don't eat red meat, fish or dairy so I would be paying…
