Carlsberg Brewery information
Thanks to a Danish Foreign Minister who visited Malawi during the independence celebrations in 1966 and wasn't too impressed by the beers available, a Carlsberg brewery was established here; and thus began the story of the country's favourite drink, the 'Green'. Beerophiles can head to the brewery, east of the centre every Wednesday at 2.30pm, when free tours are laid on (but have to be booked in advance). You’ll be told all about the brewing process after which you’ll be rewarded with a free tasting session.
