Hello!

I am planning a two week trip to Madagascar in early July. What is becoming quickly very clear is that there is just too much amazing stuff to do and see, and as it is quite tricky to get about we will have to be realistic about how much we do. I would therefore be grateful for some advice as to what is possible and any views on the places we are considering.

I am going with a friend and if possible we are both looking for some beach time, some wildlife time, some hiking time and some…

We are an ex-Kenya Peace Corps couple just beginning to plan for Madagascar after a Kenya visit. Best air fare we can hope for and from whom? Love natural areas and people connections. Best and most practical destinations? Any home stay chances? We don't need luxury, but have limited time - only about Jan 26 - Feb 3, 2017. THANKS for any advice!

Hello everyone -
Planning a trip to Madagascar the 1st week of June, running through the 1st week of July. Was hoping to hire a 2WD car & driver for most of the trip (ca: 20+ days); figure a 4WD might be necessary for at least part of it. The only quote I received was for 90 Euros a day (minimum) for a 4WD, which seems a bit steep. Any suggestions/advice on reputable firms where I could rent a 2WD for 15-20 days or so? What would be a reasonable price/rate?

Thanks

Local SIM

Hi, new user query. Travelling to Madagascar later in the year. I've read the older posts and wonder if anyone has any up to date knowledge on the best local data SIMs available?

Price? Where to buy? Best network coverage etc?

Many thanks

Hello everyone!

My girlfriend and I are travelling to Madagascar for 43 days since the beginning of september. We've been consulting the Lonely Planet guide 2016 and other sources to plan our trip.
We are both backpackers interested in nature and culture, so we wouldn't be spending much time in big towns, nor relaxing on the beach. Also it's important to add that we plan to travel by taxi brousse, sleep in hostels, cook food and ofcourse while being in nature sleep on tents.

This is our plan:

Hi all,

My flight back home due on the night of June 2nd to June 3rd at 1am. To make sure I'll catch the flight I'll be better in Tana on the 1st or the latest the 2nd in Mid-day or end of afternoon. The reason of this post is:
-Air Mada on strike (I've read in Lp)
- Cannot find Madagascar airways website but a facebook page and I don't have a social network page
- and to make matters worse, searching on a comparative flight website, there are no departure on June 1st or 2nd

So I guess I have to…

Can any one recommend me a reliable agency/company for hiring a 4WD with a driver for this period?
Cheers!

For all those who have Air Madagascar Tickets---I just saw on the news as of Monday May 9th 2016 that Air Madagascar is planning a strike beginning Wednesday May 11, 2016. This to effects me for I have tickets from Tana to Mahajanga.
So I am making plans to go with Taxi Bush if the strike continues. The strike has something to do about the reinstatement of pilots by the court but since the courts have been on strike for almost a month now, nothing is respected so a strike is in order.

That is…

Hello everyone
I am planning to travel to Madagascar in October 2016 for 10 or so days. I really want to see lemurs in as natural a setting as possible (not tame animals) and also whale sharks. Oh and chameleons. While I had planned on an group tour I am now considering doing something less formal. What itinerary would you recommend and do you have providers and accommodation you would recommend? It doesn't need to be fancy, just somewhere I feel safe and welcome and can enjoy the adventure. For…
