Lonely Planet review for Aquarium

Housed in a fine, sail-shaped building on the corniche, the mesmerising aquarium is the largest in the Middle East. A sign of contentment, perhaps, turtles perch on the back of lazy crocodiles, hedgehogs mate, prickles notwithstanding, in the adjacent eco-display, and even the aquarium's guards have taken to humming Arabic love songs. The unique intertidal display, with waves washing in at eye level, is home to shoals of black-spotted sweetlips and the ingenious mudskipper.

But the most spectacular part of the display (with giant spider crabs at 3.8m leg to leg, a living reef and fluorescent jellyfish coming in at a close second) is undoubtedly the wraparound, floor-to-ceiling shark and ray tanks. Ring to inquire about current feeding times.

    Very Nice Aquarium

    Huricans97 recommends this,

The sail-shaped building is awesome to look at to begin with. I love the design. The price is reasonable for here in Kuwait. Walking into the Aquarium portion you get some history of the area and some artifacts. Going upstairs you get to see some of the mammals and reptiles which live in Kuwait. I found the "Bat Cave" to be very cool as you get to see the bats flying around and hanging from the rock formations. I also found watching the Kangaroo Rats very entertaining. Once done with those first few areas you go through some doors and are met with Sea Otters and again they are fun to watch. Following the sea otters you get to see Penguins....who doesn't love Penguins? Once you make your way around there you go through another set of doors and are now in the aquarium. You start off with the small tanks and various sea life but the real treat is the huge tanks that go from floor to ceiling in the center of the aquarium. I was really impressed with the aquarium here in Kuwait.

The IMAX on the other hand I was not impressed with. The shows are in Arabic so you will need to get the translator headsets. As long as they work it is good but I had to get 5 headsets throughout the showing and ended up giving up because they would work only for a short time or not at all. I was not the only one having problems as I watched other people getting up to get another set as well. Very disappointing on that part
