Introducing Matsuyama to Takamatsu

This stretch of country is home to a few noteworthy temples on the pilgrimage circuit including Kanonji, the boyhood home of Kōbō Daishi.

The JR Yosan line runs around the coast between Takamatsu and Matsuyama. At Tadotsu, the JR Dosan line splits off it and runs south to Zentsū-ji and Kotohira, through the Iya Valley and eventually to Kōchi. Most trains for the Dosan line start in Takamatsu, can be joined in Tadotsu and end their journey at Kotohira; to continue south on the line will require a change of trains there.
