Milan, Italy Wishes You Were Here
Blog: Suzy Guese - 23 December 2011
The last place you will find me this time of the month is an indoor shopping mall. It is a place all should avoid for fear of being spritzed with the latest scent by a celebrity or for fear of being rundown in the parking lot by an SUV. However, the first place I found [...]

Exploring metros
Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 18 November 2011
I think one way of getting a know a city is by taking the public transport. It kinda lets you sneak a peek at how locals go about their daily lives. While I personally love walking to get to places when i'm in a foreign city, I must say I'm also fascinated by the train stations and the people in it.

Pizza and Love in Milan: Le Grand Fooding Milano 2011
Blog: Lonely Girl Travels - 24 October 2011
The way to a man’s Italian’s French hipster’s anyone’s heart is through food. Especially pizza. This is the main lesson I came away with from a weekend spent at Le Grand Fooding Milano. The others included: Italians don’t know what aioli is; there’s really no such thing as “Italian” food, and Northern Italians are shocked [...]

All the Italian cities are unique
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 22 May 2011
Managed to go to quite a number of cities around Italy, and like one of the owner of the Bed and Breakfast we stayed in said "There are three Italy - the Northern Italy, the Southern Italy and the middle one". I fully agreed! All the cities that we went to were very different - it felt like we were in different countries! And most of the time, the traffic best described the mood of the city. Venice

For this Photo of the Week you get a special treat…many photos because I couldn’t choose just one! I recently spent 4 days in the Milan area traveling with a local friend. This part of Northern Italy was new to me. We traveled around Piacenza, Lake Le Garda, and Milan – a great mixture of [...]

Mangia Italia – Food Etiquette of Italy
Blog: Ottsworld - 4 January 2011
If you know these food etiquette rules you’ll start to fit in as if you were an Italian; ok that may be a bit much, but at least you won’t stick out as a tourist as much. Throw around a Ciao and Gazzie mille and you will be even more convincing.

Take My Luggage; Please!
Blog: Ron in Rome - 5 December 2010
For many travelers, storing your luggage on a brief stay in a city – traveling by train or plane – can be a problem. Most of the larger cities and airports do have a “LEFT LUGGAGE” service (deposito bagagli). The fees are very reasonable and I’ve used this service at multiple train stations. With the [...]

1st Class versus 2nd Class
Blog: Ron in Rome - 29 November 2010
One of the biggest debates on an Italian travel board is often, “Should I ride in 1st or 2nd class on a train?” Followed closely by, “What’s the difference between 1st and 2nd class?” And also course, “Is is worth the cost to purchase a 1st class ticket?” For most folks, it’s a matter of personal [...]

Milan to St. Moritz via Bernina Express
Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 22 July 2010
June 15, 2010 - We're going to Switzerland! This, perhaps, was the daytrip i've been looking forward to the most (and the only one we booked with a tour company). I was eager to get out of Milan and go somewhere cooler. It was a rainy day, but nothing can dampen our spirits. Even if we did have to wake up early.

Duomo, Shopping and Football
Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 19 July 2010
June 14, 2010 - I think I may have been too harsh on my first impression of Milan. I thought it didn’t have much to offer to tourists like me. We only had a day to explore it but I found it lacking compared to its other Italian counterparts. It was just too city-ish for me. That’s why I convinced the hubby to just spend our afternoon shopping instead :) And if you tell him I only used that as an excuse to lure him into the shops, I will deny it vehemently.

Conquering The Travel Aspect To Solo Travel
Blog: Suzy Guese - 1 July 2010
Solo travel is often looked at as though you are traveling to the moon. You are going there by yourself? Aren’t you going to be lonely? Will you be able to figure out the trains on your own? Should you really be traveling as a woman all alone? These are questions of those that I [...]

Lady e il Tartufo Bianco
Blog: A Lady in London - 1 February 2010
I took my first trip to Italy when I was twelve years old. The trip, a classic bus tour of the major Italian cities, was your typical American Italy-in-a-box tour. That is, except for one thing: the food.

Lady on Lake Como
Blog: A Lady in London - 1 February 2010
My boyfriend and I took advantage of last week's Bank Holiday weekend to visit Italy. Our first stop was Lake Como, which has long been on our list of places to visit. We arrived in Milan early Saturday morning. Our friends picked us up at the airport and we drove north to the town of Como. After a quick snack and a stroll through the beautiful streets, we hopped on a ferry to Bellagio, one of Lake Como's most famous towns.

Nice to see ya, to see ya Nice
Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 7 November 2009
Well today hasn’t started too swell, I missed the 11:10 train to Nice I intended to get. The problem was that I just missed a tram to the central station while buying a ticket and annoyingly the screen said the next one wouldn’t be for 25 minutes which wouldn’t give me time to get my [...]
