Land
Bus
KSRTC buses leave around every 30 minutes from the KSRTC bus stand for Trivandrum (Rs 170, 7½ hours), Kochi (Rs 46, two hours), Calicut (Rs 72, 3½ hours), Palakkad (Rs 37, 1½ hours) and Kottayam (Rs 64, four hours). Hourly buses go to Coimbatore (Rs 61, three hours). There are also buses to Ponnani (Rs 25, 1½ hours) and Prumpavoor (Rs 30, two hours), for connections to Munnar.
The large, private Sakthan Thampuran stand has buses for Guruvayur (Rs 14, one hour) and Irinjalakuda (Rs 11, 45 minutes). The smaller, private Priyadarshini (also called north) stand has many buses bound for Shoranur and Palakkad, Pollachi and Coimbatore. There are also buses from here to Cheruthuruthy (Rs 17, 1½ hours, every 10 minutes).
Train
Services run regularly to Ernakulam (2nd class/3AC/2AC Rs 30/188/266, two hours) and Calicut (Rs 41/213/295, 3½ hours). There are also trains running to Palakkad (sleeper/3AC/2AC Rs 101/188/266, two hours) via Shoranur.
