Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer information
The central memorial site of German division extends for 1.4km along Bernauer Strasse and incorporates a section of original Wall, vestiges of the border installations and escape tunnels, a chapel and a monument. It's the only place where you can see how border fortifications developed over time. Multimedia stations, 'archaeological windows' and markers provide context and details about events that took place along here. For a great overview climb up the viewing platform at the Documentation Centre near Ackerstrasse.
