Getting there & around
Up to 30 daily commuter trains link Paris’ Gare de Lyon hourly with Fontainebleau-Avon station (€7.50, 40 to 60 minutes); the last train returning to Paris leaves Fontainebleau a bit after 9.45pm weekdays, just after 10pm on Saturday and sometime after 10.30pm on Sunday. SNCF has a package (adult/10 to 17 years/four to nine years €20.80/16/7.70) that includes return transport from Paris, bus transfers and admission to the chateau.
Local buses (€1.30) link the train station with central Fontainebleau, 2km to the southwest, every 10 minutes from about 6am until about 9.30pm (11.30pm on Sunday).
