Introducing Kemi

Kemi is an industrial town and important deepwater harbour. It also has a significant pulp-and-paper production, with the associated smell. Although not a hugely appealing place (in summer only the gem museum by the wide waterfront has any sort of siren song), Kemi is home to two of Finland's blockbuster winter attractions: the authentic Arctic icebreaker ship, Sampo, and the Lumilinna (Snow Castle), complete with ice hotel.
