The Discovery Guide to Dartmoor, free from most Devon tourist offices and NPA offices, has full details of bus and train services around the park. There are scheduled buses to various points around the park from Totnes, Exeter, Plymouth and Okehampton. The most useful bus is 82, the Transmoor Link, running between Exeter and Plymouth via Moretonhampstead, Warren House Inn, Postbridge, Princetown and Yelverton (three daily Monday to Saturday, five Sunday).

The Dartmoor Sunday Rover ticket (adult £5, June to September) entitles you to unlimited travel on most bus routes, and to train travel on the Tamar Valley line from Plymouth to Gunnislake. Buy your ticket from bus drivers or at Plymouth train station.

The only main-line train station within easy reach of the park is Okehampton.
