Courses
A number of universities and church groups organize student trips to El Salvador, but there are a handful of schools based in El Salvador itself where travelers can take courses, mostly to learn Spanish. The best is the Centro de Intercambio y Solidaridad in San Salvador. Another option in San Salvador is Escuela Cuscatlán, which has a sister school, Escuela Sihuatehuacán, in Santa Ana.
Classes
Longer routes usually have two classes of service: regular service is usually called ordinario; first-class service is especial or super. The term directo is often used as a euphemism for ordinary service, though not always - double check depending on what service you want. First-class buses are modern, air-conditioned coaches with bathroom and usually a video. The minor additional fare is well worth it - the buses are faster, more comfortable, and safer because they don't stop as often mid-route.
