Lonely Planet review
Set in the dry forest along the Rio Negro and owned and operated by Hacienda Guachipelin, this is our favorite commercial hot spring in northwest Costa Rica. The six natural, stone-crafted hot pools are accessible by a lovely wooded trail, and set quite magically in the forest along the river. Those closest to the hanging bridge, on either side of the river, are the hottest, and top out at 40 degrees Celsius. They have a small snack bar and massage available, but no electricity and no concrete. What you'll feel here is wind, water and heat. Admission comes with a short tour through the woods describing indigenous medicinal flora. To get here make the turn, 1km from the Las Pailas Ranger Station, toward Rincon De La Vieja Lodge and the Santa Maria sector. The hot springs will be on your right.
