Hi guys,

I am planning a trip to Patagonia next year with my wife, and want to check we have our timing for Torres del Paine about right.

We are looking to arrive there in late October, and we would like to do the W trek. What we have provisionally planned is that we will first arrive in Puerto Natales and stay there one night. The next day we will get a bus to the starting point for the W trek on the Glacier Grey side at campsite Paso. From there, we will trek five days and camp four nights…

I plan on doing the "O" circuit solo at Torres Del Paine this upcoming January 2017. I know that CONAF has a lot of new restrictions for this coming season and I'm wondering if, other than securing the campsites and booking ahead of time, do I need any special permits to complete the back half of the circuit? Specifically camp Seron to Camp Paso.
I read that they're going to limit the amount of hikers per day that would like to complete the back half of the O.

Also on the sites FAQ they say…

Hi there,
Can anyone confirm the availability of ATM machines at Santiago Airport? Am I better to source some peso's before I arrive or wait until I arrive and use the ATM's?
Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated :-)
Cheers

Hi,

I want to visit the eastern islands. As I have seen the flights from Santiago de Chile arrive at 1:30 pm and leave the island at 3:20 pm.

My plan is to arrive at 1:30 on the eastern islands, do on this day some sightseeing and spend the next full day for sightseeing. On the third day I would like to fly back.

Is one full day (with optionally some hours on day 1 or 3) enough to see all the interesting places?

Can the island be also explored independently by myself with a bike?

Best
Chris

Hi All,
I'm planing my trip to Chile on October. Thirst part I will spend in a north chile (San Pedro de Atacama-La Serena area) and then I thought to go to Puerto Natales and spend there some time. When travelling, I mostly prefer to go to places, stay there for a few days or more and explore the area. Without long tracks. I thought to take 1-2 one day trips.

So, here is a few things I want to ask.
1. what is the best way to go from La Serena to Puerto Natales?
- If by flight, can I buy tickets…

My friend and I are planning on hiking the W in Torres del Paine. Fantastico Sur offers a pre-paid package which includes accomodation in refugios and transportation to/from the park but it's far more expensive than booking the refugios independently. I've seen that refugios are easy to book online but what about transport to and from the park? Is there a way to book the buses in advance? And what about the ferry? And if not, how much in advance does it book out? It would suck to have booked all…

Hello everyone,

I've read a lot that to avoid spending too much on buying food in Easter Island, it'll be best to do some shopping first in Santiago and take it onto the island. However, I'm actually flying from Tahiti. Has anyone tried bringing food in from French Polynesia and if so, what are the items that will be confiscated on arrival?

Can I bring in fresh meat, canned food, eggs, milk, fruits, bread, jam?

Thanks everyone

We are taking the 07h45 train from Santiago to Chillan (we want to take one train journey in Chile), then onwards to either Los Angeles or to Temuco. The train is scheduled to arrive in Chillan at 12h40 and the buses depart Chillan at 2pm and 4pm taking 1h30 or 3hrs to Los Angeles or to Temuco respectively (it is the same bus on Tur bus)..

If we spend 3 hours in Chillan, then we go to Los Angeles, if we stop briefly, an hour in Chillan, we can go on to Temuco. Should we have a leisurely lunch…
