5/6 days Torres del Paine W Circuit itinerary

Hey there!
Could you give me some advice on my itinerary of a Torres del Paine hike (W circuit) for March?

Also, I don´t want to carry too much, but pack the most important things into a 35-40 litres backpack for the 4 hiking days. Does that sound realistic for Torres del Paine, considering that I want to stay in lodges? And is there a place (maybe at the harbour, the bus station, hotel/hostel) where I can store a large backpack before leaving Natales? (I don´t plan to overnight in Natales, so…

Arica to Arequipa

hi,
I was wondering if there are any busses going from Arica (Chile) to Arequipa (Peru) around Christmas time. I have been looking online, but most of the travel info dates back to 2013, and is pretty unclear. Can somebody help me out here? Thanks!

Where to Stay in Santiago

I am hoping to get some accommodation recommendations for Santiago that are not too far from the bus station. Our budget is about $50 to $80 US a night. Ideally, it would be a place where we could leave our bike boxes while we are cycling in the Lake District. Hostals are ok, but it would need to be a private room. Admittedly, I find trying to sort through TripAdvisor too taxing :)

where to stay in Punta Arenas

Hi,
As I will be arriving late in Punta Arenas I was wondering if anyone could guide me to an area in the town that would make catching a bus to Puerto Natales . I have never been here and have know idea where anything is, so any kind of an address for lodging areas and any address for bus pick ups would really help. Or just about any info that may make this procedure smoother. I may be going to TDP or on up to Fitz Roy, weather dependant.
Thanks,
Tom

3 to 4 weeks in Chile with my father in March. South or North?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently travelling long term around the world. Right now I'm in Ecuador. Beautiful country. But I'm writing about Chile. My father (62) in respectable shape and an experienced backpacker in the past is coming to met me and my brother (who will join up with me there) for 3 to 4 weeks in Chile. He will fly from Toronto to Santiago. From there we need to decide whether to go south or North. (I will later explore whichever part we don't visit.)

A little about us: I love…

Christmas in Valparaiso

My boyfriend and I are travelling through South America and plan to spend a few days in Valparaiso over Christmas.

We want to stay somewhere homely but lively, where there are likely to be other people around to celebrate with. It also needs to be fairly inexpensive.

Has anyone spent Christmas there before and have any suggestions of where to stay? We have looked at tripadvisor and are considering Planeta Lindo Hostel.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks :)

Short treks in Torres del Paine

Hello fellow travelers,

My friend and I are planning on going to Torres del Paine at the end of March. I don't think we will have the full five days to do the trek but wanted to ask if there are any other variations on the W or other short treks that we could do in 3 full days there. Thanks in advance!

Torres del Paine solo?

Greetings!

I will travel to the south of Chile in February and I have some doubts about Torres del Paine and would really appreciate your help. I would really like to do the W trek, but I don't hike reguraly and I have never done a trek like this. Besides this I will be travelling alone. What would you recommend? Should I go and do the W or instead make some daily trips to the park? (and also about daily trips - is it possible to do them alone or is better to do it with a tour?)

Thank you for…

Feedback on Aysen - Coyhaique to Cochrane stretch)

Hey forum,

Just wanted to post my experience in the Aysen Region. Hope it helps other fellow travellers. I was there for a week from late Dec/ to the 1st week of January. The region has a LOT to see/do and since we only had a few days we chose to do the stretch between Coyhaique and Cochrane. We flew to Balmaceda Airport (the nearest one to Coyhaique), rented a small 4x4 with Recasur (a local and trustable rental) and drove from there to Cerro Castillo village. That is the last cemented…
