Lonely Planet review for Maid of the Mist

This brave little boat has been plowing headlong into the falls’ misty veil since 1846. It’s loud and wet and heaps of fun. Everyone heads for the boat’s upper deck, but views from either end of the lower deck are just as good. Departures are every 15 minutes, weather permitting.

The Perfect Resort for your Family Get Together This Summer

    dirkperry does not recommend this,

You are almost retired, you know the dates of your upcoming summer vacation, and you know that you want to spend a few days with your grown children and grandchildren, but what you have not selected is a meeting place.

The little kids really like Disneyland, but the grownups; not so much. Besides, you were there just a few years ago. You’d like to go fishing for big salmon on the BC coast but those fishing lodges really aren’t very kid-friendly. Go figure.

So, what should you do and where should you do it? Ah! For every problem, there is a solution.

Along a very scenic route only three hours by car from Vancouver BC, perched overlooking the White Canyon of the Thompson River is a friendly, family-oriented resort – the Kumsheen Rafting Resort. Wait…BC white water rafting! You do not want to go on a white water river trip with your family. It’s way too dangerous.

Well, it turns out that the Kumsheen Rafting Resort is not the new kid on the block. In fact, Bernie Fandrich started it in 1973 and his family still owns and operates the now quite famous resort. BC white water rafting is just one of the activity choices.

Family rafting trips for ages 10 and up on the now legendary Thompson River have been Kumsheen’s speciality for 38 years. Our oldest guest was an active, physically fit 93-year-old woman. She came river rafting BC several years in a row. More than a quarter million other folks have also been down the river with Kimchee.

For the little ones we even have a child’s playground. Yet, most of our guests’ spend time around the swimming pool and large hot tub. Grandparents can lie back in a lounge chair as the grandkids frolic in the water while everyone else heads out for an unforgettable rafting BC trip on the Thompson.

Some folks meet their family at Kumsheen just to enjoy the exceptional dining in our Cutting Board Restaurant. The uniquely themed canvas cabins and Tee Pee accommodations enthral others. It is likely you have never spent a night in a Tee Pee, and for sure, the grandkids have not. Go to YouTube (link to our resort YouTube video) and you will learn a lot more about our resort.

Spend some time on our website and check out all the options available to you and your family; including exciting, guided, BC white water rafting excursions. Go to http://kumsheen.com/resort/ for more details.

Great way to really get a sense of the power of the falls

    matpalm recommends this,

Seeing Niagara Falls from the top was impressive enough but I was amazed by how much this little trip gave me a sense of the awesome power of the water! Well worth it and though it was quite busy in the town I don't remember the queues being bad at all
