Land
Bus
The large bus station (780-413-8747; 10324 103rd St) has Greyhound Canada services to numerous destinations including Jasper ($57, five hours, four daily) and Calgary ($46, from 3½ hours, 11 daily).
Red Arrow (780-425-0820) buses stop at the Holiday Inn Express hotel (10010 104th St) and serve Calgary ($60, 3½ hours, at least four daily). The buses are a step up, with plugs for your laptop, leather seats and more legroom for taller folks.
Car
All the major car rental firms have offices at the airport and around town. Driving Force (780-483-9559; www.thedrivingforce.com; 11025 – 184 St) will rent, lease or sell you a car. Check the website; it often has some good deals.
Train
The small VIA Rail station (888-842-7245; www.viarail.ca; 12360 121st St) is on the west side of Edmonton City Centre Airport. The Canadian travels three times a week east to Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Toronto and west to Jasper, Kamloops and Vancouver. At Jasper, you can connect to Prince George and Prince Rupert. VIA Rail services and fares are constantly in flux, so confirm details in advance.
Air
Edmonton International Airport (780-890-8382, 800-268-7134; www.edmontonairports.com) is about 30km south of the city along the Calgary Trail, about a 45-minute drive from downtown.
