Getting there & away
Land
Bus
The Greyhound Canada bus station (403-260-0877; 877 Greyhound Way SW) is the place to catch a ride to destinations including Banff ($26, two hours, six daily) and Edmonton ($37.50, from 3½ hours, 13 or more daily). Red Arrow (800-232-1958; www.redarrow.pwt.ca; 205 9th Ave SE) runs luxury buses to Edmonton ($60, 3½ hours, seven daily).
Car
All the major car rental firms are represented at the airport and downtown.
Train
One way to get around is with Rocky Mountaineer Railtours (800-665-7245; www.rockymountaineer.com; cnr 9th Ave SW & Centre St S; 2-day tours per person from $1389). Back in the day, hopping a freight was the hobo’s way to travel. Not so anymore: you can get pampered in luxury and railed around the Rockies on these cruise ship–like rail excursions.
Air
Calgary International Airport (YYC; 403-735-1372; www.calgaryairport.com) is about 15km northeast of the center off Barlow Trail, a 25-minute drive away. For more information on flights into Calgary.
