Week 7: Paris
Ahhhhh Paris. If only I were fluent in French and not a tourist, perhaps then you might like me as much as I like you. Don't get me wrong, the city is swarming with tourists and so any resentment you might feel from a local is very understandable but I have to say, I've never been more embarrassed to be myself than I have here.
On the upside though, I've managed to filter out the cold in France through something I like to call the Eat Lots And Put On Weight Method. There are restaurants and cafes like you'd see in a postcard or painting and all of them are filled most hours of the day. If you're not in the mood for a restaurant or cafe though, you can do as many people here do and grab a baguette on the go, which is arguably better than a lot of restaurant meals.
Another great thing about Paris is the couples making out everywhere. It's like an open invitation to make couples uncomfortable - waiting on a street corner with them to cross the road as they try to share a romantic moment or breathing heavily near them on the top of the Eiffel tower. I've awkwardly jumped into at least 16 couple photos and made at least a bus-full of them cringe by standing close. Very close.
