Week 2: Maldives

Hi! So I'm in the Maldives at the moment. If you don't know where that is don't worry, neither did I. Basically you need to find a hole in the space and time continuum to get to how far away it is but once you're here, it's worth it - this place looks like all the postcards you look at and think, 'pfft, photoshop'. If you're looking for a honeymoon destination, a place to renew your vows or just a place to get laid, the Maldives is pretty much it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not an adventurous person - the most exciting thing I've done in a while is get my avatar on Second Life to ask a guy out (he declined) but this place is amazing for some water sports with a beautiful backdrop. Just the other day I went swimming with sharks, stingrays and barracudas. I felt like a fucking Disney princess. It was epic. Admittedly, when I say 'swimming' I may mean floating awkwardly around wildlife. Also, when I say 'sharks, stringrays and barracudas' I may mean 'SHARKS, STINGRAYS AND BARRACUDAS - EVACUATE PEOPLE!'

I have to admit though, seeing the whale sharks was pretty amazing. It was only my second time snorkelling when I went to see it so I was a little scared because for some reason as soon as they see one coming they scream 'QUICK! JUMP!' and all you can see is a giant shadow coming towards you. Everything I've ever been told by parents or adults growing up has taught me not to jump towards sharks. Joking aside, amazing experience.
