So this could turn into a buddy needed post, but here goes:
I am currently trying to book a few days of hiking through the Cayo region of Central Belize, but am running into obstacles because most tour companies need several people to book the tour. As I am traveling by myself, I don't have a group to go with and with it being the off-season, I am worried that I may miss out on this segment of the trip.
Are there tour/sightseeing companies that any one can recommend for a single individual…
we have reserved a week in the glovers atoll resort for January 2017- the inexpensive resort without electricity, small huts on the beach and over water, run by the Lomont family. The last online information is very outdated. Has anyobdy been there recently? News mainly regarding diving, location.
Would be grateful for any reply and advice.
Thanks and greetings from Vienna, Andrea
Arriving today for a week and hope to do some diving. Re dive shops, I'm aware of Belize Diving Services but there prices are a bit more $$ when I add the cost of gear. Anyone comment on Frenchies or any other dive shops on CC? Also, with 5-6 days to dive, any suggestions of how to prioritize the dive sites? I'm Open Water Cert., but prefer to dive not much more than 60'-80' so not interested in Blue Hole.
Looking at spending about 10 days in Belize with husband and family. (3 and 5 yr old). Thinking of San Ignacio (Jungle Lodge), and ambergris caye. But flexible with location as reliability with my husband being connected for work is key. I have been reading that the internet is fairly slow in Belize. Are there places where we are more likely to get high speed internet? Our second option is Panama. Really I just want to go away and am fine to go where ever. I just have to…
I'm trying to find out what Earl did to Belize. From what I can tell so far, San Pedro was hit very hard. I also saw pictures of washed out bridges near Melchor de Mencos. Is anyone there able to tell us what happened in other parts of the country? IT appears that in the south the damage was not too bad?
hey everyone, im planning to go to roatan from belize in September, is there a way to get to la ceiba (or san pedro) by bus from belize (dont care which city)?, airplane is too expensive for my budget and i want to avoid changing from land to ferries because i risk staying overnight somewhere and i dont have much time (or money), any input or suggestions are welcome
Had a 10 day trip scheduled from 8/17 - 8/28 to see the Cayo district and then head out to Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. Is that plan totally dead now considering all the rain from Hurricane (now Tropical Storm) Earl?
Has anyone ever bought trip insurance to recover the costs I've already sunk in? Is it worth it?
Hello Fellow Travelers! I usually spend hours researching our annual trip but this year I'm running a little short on time given the dates of our trip and my travel schedule for work. My husband, 18 year old son and I will be visiting Belize later this year - Land at 1:45pm on Dec 26 and depart Jan 5 at 2:30pm. Given this is a very busy time to be there I know my options may be running thin to make certain reservations. I would sincerely recommend ANY feedback on planning our trip.We would like…
I am having a decision quandary. I am traveling to Belize in August with a friend, she is 50 and I am 45. We have most of our itinerary set but are struggling to decide whether to stay in the town of San Ignacio or at a jungle lodge nearby/in broader Cayo. We will have three nights and 2 full days there and want to do the ATM and at least one Mayan ruin.
So a few questions:
1) Is San Ignacio a nice/fun town overall? Good restaurants, vibe, night life, nice architecture, etc?
2) What is the…
