Day trip from Tulum down to Belize - good idea or not?

A few friends who have been down here suggested we take a day or two and head to Belize since it's so close. Looks like a 3-4 hour drive depending on how far we go.

Anyone have any opinion on this?

Suggestions where to go near Belize border?

Should we just do a day trip (start early and get back around sunset) or try to find a cheap place down there for one night even though we already have hotels in Tulum booked?

3 Weeks In Belize/Nicaragua/Honduras

Hi all!

I'm trying to plan a 3 week trip to either Belize, Nicaragua, or Honduras (or combo thereof) from mid-December to early January. Looking for itinerary ideas for me and my dude. We're def taking the backpacker/hostel route - the cheaper the better. I have my PADI license so I would love to get some diving in in Belize or Honduras (both of which I've heard were awesome for that). Also lookin for some jungle action.

Not super interested in spending much time at historic sites, nor are we…

Renting a Car or Relying on Spendy Mountain Lodge Shuttles/Meals?

2nd visit to Belize. My husband and I, along with our 4 y/o daughter will be crossing over the border from Mexico via bus and making our way down to Orange Walk as a stopover en route to San Ignacio where we're staying at Table Rock for two nights. We then head to Belmopan where we're staying at Sleeping Giant.

I'm excited about both choices of accommodation but I'm suffering from a bit of sticker shock - not so much the cost of the room but the fact that both lodges are remote and we'll be…

renting a sailboat for 6 to 8 people in Belize

Has anyone had experience with renting a sailboat in Belize for a week or several days? We have 6, possibly 8 people and two seasoned sailors with lots of experience sailing large boats. We hope to visit Belize in January for 10 day to 2 weeks. Goals are to sail, scuba, and snorkel. Any advice?

itinerary order/advice?

My partner and I are travelling from Tulum to Chetumal by bus and then into Belize.
We want to see Lamanai, Caye Caulker/Ambergris Caye and The Belize Zoo before heading onto San Ignacio.

We're just unsure of what order to do things and am hoping someone can give us some advice with our itinerary!
From what I've read it seems advisable to avoid Belize City altogether unless it's just in transit. With that in mind,
would it be easiest to;
1) Catch the water taxi from Chetumal over to the Cayes…

handicap accessibility

Thinking about going to Belize but I'm slightly handicapped, can't do a lot of stairs, don't have much for balance, etc. I would want a place with a/c and a pool. Is there much available in the moderate price range?

Reef View - Virtual dive!

Google has created a special edition of their Street View, turning panoramic shots taken while scuba diving into a virtual reef dive. Just like street view, you can click your way along the reef, adjust the camera angle, zoom in/out, etc. - while it sure doesn't compare to the real thing, I've never seen anything that conveys the real experience like this.

They've done it for several reefs and countries around the world; check out this one in Belize's Lighthouse Reef Atoll:
