Airbnb has revealed its 2020 Trend Survey, and one of its findings is that travellers increasingly want to stay in miniature, simplistic and efficient tiny homes. Here are a few of our favourite small dwellings around the world that you can rent on Airbnb.

This tiny house sleeps four people and is located in a quiet backyard in the middle of Nashville's design district. Repurposed vintage cabinets and a claw-foot tub share this clever space with modern appliances and air conditioning, and guests can unwind in front of a movie on the projector.

The AirShip is situated in a beautiful, secluded position on a four-acre site in Drimnin on the west coast of Scotland. The insulated aluminium pod was designed by Roderick James and it sleeps two people. It offers views across the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and out to sea towards Ardnamurchan Point.

Rancho Esto es Vida is located in Villalba in Puerto Rico and it has one bedroom and two bathrooms and it sleeps two people. Guests can enjoy the view from a hanging hammock suspended on the terrace, bathe in an outdoor tub with panoramic views and relax in the heated jacuzzi. Nature-lovers can enjoy the countryside and there are restaurants and cafés in the nearby village.

The Phoenix House in Pahoa has one bedroom and one bathroom, and it is situated on the Kalapana lava beds near the base of the Kilauea volcano. It’s also very close to farmers' markets, black sandy beaches and gorgeous coastal drives.

This tiny home in Waco is a fusion of two shipping containers. It may be tiny, but it sleeps six people and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a rooftop deck. The interior of the Texan home is insulated and panelled in pine shiplap, and it's trimmed in barn wood that's over 100 years old. It's located in a safe rural neighbourhood, surrounded by trees.
