Close to the Plateia Solomou bus stand, the Delphi has compact, angular rooms that are miles better than what you'd expect for the price. All are bright and airy and some have balconies with views of the old town or city walls.

The north side of Lefkosia is short of decent places to stay but visiting businessmen swear by this tasteful, up-market hotel right in the centre. There's a basement casino and rooms have tiny balconies and luscious deep-pile carpets.

Dust hardly dares to settle at this bright and clean pansiyon (pension) near the main square. It's easily the most wholesome budget choice on the north side of the border and rooms are surprisingly inviting for this price bracket.
It's probably the icy air-con as much as the styling that attracts people to this expensive place just inside the old city walls. Inside, it's all very modern and slick and there are several restaurants, a gym and a rooftop bar.
About 1.5km (1mi) from the city walls, just off Themistokli Dervi, this brightly painted hostel has a guest kitchen, fan-cooled dorms and resident cats. It's handy for the new town, less so for old Lefkosia.
