Minshuku Ikumi
A charming family-run affair, and a popular surfer's choice, thanks to the well-presented rooms and the helpful, knowledgeable owner, Ten.
Shirahama White Beach Hotel
A slightly faded modern resort hotel that's directly on the beach at Kannoura. In the summer, camping is available on the beach next to the hotel.
Hotel Riviera
In Shishikui, with upmarket Western- and Japanese-style rooms. Nonguests can use the sea-view onsen baths (¥600; from 11am to 10pm).
Four Season Hotel Tokushima
The newest hotel in Tokushima is not quite the famous chain, but the 23 rooms are stylish nonetheless, à la their sister hotel, the Agnes, just down the road.
Agnes Hotel Tokushima
Hip little Agnes lies 200m west of the station and offers a more sophisticated aesthetic than the usual business hotel. The rooms have stylish interiors, and the foyer pastry cafe is a destination in its own right.
Sakura Sō
The delightful older lady in charge readily welcomes lost foreigners to her charming minshuku (guesthouse), which has large, good-value tatami (woven floor matting) rooms.
Hotel Astoria
A less formal vibe pervades this neat family hotel tucked off the main drag. The narrow rooms are well appointed, with spacious bathrooms and firm beds. There is LAN internet access in rooms, and a popular cafe-restaurant in the lobby.
Tōyoko Inn
This popular chain hotel is a good option, with small but clean and comfortable rooms. There is LAN internet access in rooms, and there are computer consoles in the lobby.
White Beach Hotel Ikumi
Close by Minshuku Michishio is this place, which has Japanese- and Western-style rooms and a beachfront restaurant called Oluolu (it offers meals from ¥800, and is open for lunch and dinner – a picture menu is available).
Hotel Clement Tokushima
Directly on top of the station building, luxurious Hotel Clement boasts 18 floors and 250 comfortable, spacious Western-style rooms.
Minshuku Michishio
Another good option on the beach, with Japanese- and Western-style rooms and a restaurant serving tasty okonomiyaki (savoury pancakes; butter and cabbage cooked with seafood or meat on a griddle).
