Shopping in Central Florida

  1. Ritz Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes

The ultimate in luxury. Most rooms have balconies overlooking the free-form pool, the 18-hole golf course (which has won environment awards for conservative water use) and the theme-park fireworks beyond. Pay a little extra for club-level access, which has five daily servings of appetizer-size meals. The spa is divine, the service impeccable and the food outstanding. Excellent for honeymooners and families alike, this hotel is the rare gem that seamlessly combines child-friendly with adult-friendly. The Easter Brunch at the Vineyard Grill here is fantastic for families.

    Pointe Orlando

Pleasant enough, with brick walkways and a fountain, this small outdoor shopping area features an odd assortment of shops and several good restaurants. You’ll find the high end Keihl’s and L’Occitane, cult favorites for lotions and potions, as well as Victoria’s Secret, B Dalton Books and a huge Cineplex movie theater.

    Urban Think Bookstore

In Thornton Park, this decidedly contemporary little place is like curling up on your living-room couch, with an eccentric mishmash of artwork, readings and a children’s story hour (Friday 1pm). Inside is Infusion Tea, an organic and vegetarian teahouse serving sandwiches and salads, and a bar with wine and beer.
