229 Parks
South of McKinley Village on George Parks Hwy, this lovely new establishment is at once epicurean and ardently environmental, emphasizing organic and locally grown foods. The menu changes daily, but when we were there offerings included tangerine duck salad and crimini-crusted rack of elk.
-
Black Bear Coffee House
Situated on the Glitter Gulch boardwalk, this place has good coffee, plus bagels, pastries and deli sandwiches.
-
Bub's Subs
Among Denali denizens, no eatery is better loved than Bub's. When we were there they were closed for renovations and locals were palpably depressed. Thankfully, they've since reopened.
-
Lynx Creek Pizza & Pub
Owned by Princess, this Glitter Gulch fixture has a small pub with log-cabin atmosphere and a nice outdoor patio. The pizza wedges are sizable and the taste is tolerable.
-
McKinley Creekside Café
Down at Carlo Creek, this café with a sunny deck has a hearty mountain woman breakfast and, for dinner, Alaskan amber-glazed salmon. If you're taking a bus into the park they'll pack you a lunch.
-
McKinley/Denali Steak & Salmon Bake
Love it or loathe it, 'The Bake' is as garish and off-kilter as Glitter Gulch itself. It does sourdough-pancake breakfasts and, for dinner, king salmon plates.
-
Morino Grill
This cafeteria-style establishment in a barnlike structure beside the visitor center is the only eatery within the park. It has burgers, paninis and small pizzas, as well as seafood chowder and reindeer stew. When we were there it was a madhouse, and staff were in a less-than-pleasant mood.
-
Mosey's Kitchen
In a trailer at the north end of the Glitter Gulch boardwalk, Mosey's does halibut tacos, which are a favorite of park-area employees.
-
Overlook Bar & Grill
Way up on the hill over Glitter Gulch, the Overlook gets raves for its view and beer list, but razzes for slow and haphazard service. It does steak, seafood, pasta and poultry.
-
Panorama Pizza Pub
Comparatively new but already beloved, this Carlo Creek eatery offers good beer, burgers, and pizza pies with names like the Vegghead and the Runnin' Chicken. You get a discount if you're staying across the road at the Denali Mountain Morning Hostel.

Perch Restaurant
At Carlo Creek, this is among Denali's best fine-dining restaurants, specializing in seafood, pasta and wild game. Try the king salmon with cranberry-horseradish sauce or caribou medallions wrapped in bacon.
-
Riley Creek Mercantile
Next to the Riley Creek Campground, it has a few groceries, as well as espressos, deli sandwiches and wraps.
