Pamukkale's numerous pensions and small hotels offer good value. Many places have pools (with water from the travertines or other springs). The stiff competition translates into good service, tips and assistance. If you have a preference, and especially in high summer, try and book ahead – whatever the season, this often scores you a free lift from Denizli's otogar or train station. (Generally you'll find rooms just showing up, though).

Aimed firmly at backpackers, the Meltem has a slightly dodgy air when it's not busy, but gives you a choice of reasonably comfortable rooms and plenty of services, including free bike hire and 'bloody cold beer'.
Whether you prefer it in Turkish or German, the 'White Castle' is handy for town without being too close, and has a long record of keeping its guests happy, particularly in the rooftop restaurant. All the rooms have fans.
There are several camp sites set around swimming pools beside the highway as you come into Pamukkale from Denizli. Some pensions also allow camping on their grounds.
With the facilities of a hotel but much of the charm of a pension, the Koray could sell itself just on its inviting courtyard pool, restaurant and bar. The hotel stays open year-round and offers tour services to all the surrounding sites.
Unusual name, unusual building. A touch of alpine style informs everything about this yellow-hued German-run pension, and the rooms have a touch of charm in the simple décor and shady gardens.
The well-decorated rooms here (some with travertine views from the balconies) are just part of the package; the traditional Turkish poolside restaurant is excellent, and quiet corners for reading or chatting with fellow travellers abound.
