Aparthotel Capitolina
Just down from Plaza de España, these appealing and spacious apartments sit above a quality restaurant and are very well kept. They have two double bedrooms, and extra beds can be added for kids as needed.
Hotel Adealba
This chic but cordial hotel occupies a 19th-century town house close to the Templo de Diana and does so with a classy, contemporary look.
Hotel Cervantes
Excellent value for this fairly standard Spanish hotel makes it a good Mérida deal. The location is central, and the service is friendly. The bar-restaurant serves a bacon-and-egg breakfast.
Parador Vía De La Plata
You're sleeping on the site of a Roman temple in a building that started life as a convent; the lounge was a former chapel, then served as both hospital and prison.
Hotel Nova Roma
A rather uninspiring facade, a marble lobby with pseudo-Roman decor (including headless statues) and reasonable rooms are how we'd sum up this place.
Hotel Velada
The city's newest hotel is just 600m from the Teatro Romano and has a faux-temple exterior complete with columns. The rooms are modern, carpeted and comfortable with perks like a trouser press (no jeans please) and gleaming marble bathrooms.
Hostal Alfarero
Just down the hill from the Roman museum, this welcoming budget option is built around a little patio. The upstairs rooms have much more natural light than the darkish downstairs ones.
