Bacha Coffee

Top choice in Mouassine & Central Souqs

Tucked within the chambers of the Dar El Bacha museum, this fancy salon cafe intends to bring coffee connoisseurship back to Marrakesh. Prepare to scrape your jaw off the floor when you see the opulent rooms (a throwback to the early 20th-century French-protectorate era), the 23-page menu of 100% arabica coffees and the prices (pot of coffee from Dh40).

There's also a French food menu.

During French rule, Thami El Glaoui, the former pasha of Marrakesh, lived in this palace and sourced coffee from all over the world to give as gifts to guests. It is this tradition that the museum hopes to revive with its Bacha-branded coffees and extravagant menu. Expect gilded coffee pots, raw sugar, whipped cream and cracked vanilla served by waiters in white suits and fez hats. It's all very head-turning and lah-dee-dah.
