LEGO fans have been eagerly anticipating the opening of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Bay Area, due to cut its ribbon in California in the springtime. And while the wait might feel long – there’s some very good news for diehard brickheads; you can now apply to become the center’s full time Master Model Builder.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Bay Area recently announced its search for a Master Model Builder, a one-of-a-kind position that will see one lucky individual taking up a full-time role maintaining and developing new features and building models at the 31,000 sq ft attraction due to open in 2020 at Great Mall in Milpitas. It’s a hands-on job that also includes working with the thousands of children expected to visit the attraction. Applications are open now until Friday, January 10 and entrants must be 18 years or older.

The candidate will be selected at Brick Factor, a two-day building competition open to the public that will be held from 18-19 January 2020. “Now is the opportunity for LEGO lovers from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to showcase their skills for a chance to become a Master Model Builder at California’s first LEGOLAND Discovery Center,” said Johnny Campbell, New Openings Director—Midway North America, Merlin Entertainments. “The ideal Master Model Builder is someone with a zest for creativity and artistry and who shares a passion for the LEGO brand. We can’t wait to see what brilliant creations they come up with!”

Applicants are being asked to submit a video a two-minute video of themselves explaining why they are the perfect candidate. According to the brief, the ideal person should have a background in some form of model making, the ability to read drawings and sketches pertaining to model production, a general knowledge of LEGO elements, willing to work flexible hours and love to mentor, guide and teach children from the ages of three years and up.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Bay will include many fun and educational treats for families, such as a brick pool, creative workshop masterclasses an Imagination Express train ride, an earthquake table, a 4D cinema and special party rooms for birthdays and other celebrations.
