On 15 May, the Ultimate Travelling Camp will bring luxury tents to Thiksey and Diskit in Ladakh, a region in India known for its incredible scenery and Buddhist temples. The camps are designed to show off the local Ladakhi culture, and luxury tents mean visitors can have the benefit of enjoying the remote natural environment without giving up on any of the comforts of home.

With monuments, monasteries, literature, art, fairs and festivals, guests will have a number of different cultural elements that can be part of the experience. Guests can explore the region’s rituals, like the ancient sport of polo that was brought to Ladakh in the 17th century, or even try out archery in the scenic location. Adventurous travellers can go rafting on the Indus River, or even stop for a delicious picnic lunch.

Visitors will stay in large luxury tents that are furnished with wooden chandeliers, four-poster beds, and more. If you are worried about dealing with the weather, the tents are also triple-layered and protected from the outside, while the interiors are climate-controlled. There’s no skimping on comforts, as each tent offers an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower and a private deck. There’s also Wi-Fi in the reception tent, electricity, a library and a personal butler. If one of the things you love most about travel is food, then you’ll be relieved to know the camp’s in-house chef uses fresh ingredients to create Indian and international dishes to suit traveller’s tastes.
