The impoverished hill town of Mon is in a gorgeous setting but feels like a frontier town. Accommodation is at the delightful Helsa Cottage run by Aunty who can organise transport and local guides.
Down a side lane off Phool Bari this small hotel is suitable for a night’s stay, being centrally located, well kept and in reasonable condition. Top sheets only come with the more expensive rooms, but you could ask for one.
Perched above two handy internet cafes at Police Station Junction, Viewpoint Lodge offers sparklingly clean rooms with neatly tiled floors. Singles are at the front so choose a double for the good rear-side views.
The Tourist Lodge is a basic but acceptable option. It is situated right beside the NST bus station.
