Lonely Planet review for Brynja
Slightly out of the centre but well worth the effort to get to, this legendary sweet shop is known across Iceland for the best ice cream in the country.

The best ice-cream in iceland
elgur recommends this,
The ice-cream in Brynja is a experience that you will never forget. After I tasted their delicious ice-cream i really can't enjoy any other serving of ice-cream. The family recipe is secret but we are told that they use low-fat milk instead of cream. Therefore the ice-cream contains less fat and can be chilled down more so it's much colder than normal ice-cream.
The price is normal for ice-cream in iceland and worth every penny.
I would recommend you travelers who are traveling with your mate (if you have a car) to go after dark (in summer it's fairly darker than in day around 9 o'clock) and drive to the other side of the fjord and go to one of the weiwpoints facing Akureyri, watch the lights of the small town and enjoy the ice-cream with your beloved.
Brynja is a nice place for everyone, especially the young so a delicious treat for the kids (as well for the parents) in the small ice-cream shop is ideal.
