Altmarkt Galerie
The Altmarkt area is Dresden’s historic centre and the starting point for most visitors, though it’s still undergoing considerable renovations. SBS Deko
Possibly the world's biggest junk shop, SBS Deko is a warehouse literally packed to the rafters with GDR debris. Mostly in the business of hiring to filmmakers and lending to museums, they also sell anything from original retro furniture to '60s toys to a nostalgic public. So roll up for your very own piece of the GDR, an unusual souvenir idea indeed.

Gewandhaus
Of the several market places in Braunschweig, each representing an original township, the Altstadtmarkt is arguably the most appealing, with the step-gabled Renaissance Gewandhaus (1303, façade 1590) and the Gothic Altstadt Rathaus. Inside the Rathaus is the magnificent Dronse meeting hall. The tourist office can help with individual details on other buildings.
