Lonely Planet review for Chambre Neuf

Cover bands, raucous après-ski drinking and Swedish blondes dancing on the tables make Chambre Neuf one of Chamonix' liveliest party haunts. Conversations about epic off-pistes and monster jumps that are, like, totally mental, man, dominate at every table.

The only real apres ski of Chamonix, and a local favourite

    kitinboots recommends this,

Chambre Neuf is incredible. Despite the french name, this place is mostly scandinavian. They open throughout the day serving some fantastic food at lunchtime (there isn't a single thing on the menu I wouldn't recommend) and then about 5pm the pace really picks up for apres ski - Scandi style!
Get there early to get a table, grab a pitcher or two and prepare for the liveliest apres ski in town. The live band is unbelievable, playing covers of well known favourites, encouraging everyone to get up on the furniture and dance and sing all together in a lets-all-swing-from-the-rafters kind of way (you don't have to change out of your ski stuff, but I'd recommend switching to trainers not ski boots for this). Its a very messy few hours until the band finishes and everyone filters off to go shower and change before heading out again. But between 9 and 10pm is cocktail hour which you don't want to miss! The massive selection of cocktails are on sale 2-4-1 so get there in good time and order a few. I'd recommend a lovejunk or an atomic dog.
