Lonely Planet review for Le Villaret
An excellent neighbourhood bistro serving very rich food, Le Villaret has diners coming from across Paris to sample the house specialities. The velouté de cèpes (cep mushroom soup) and the jarret de veau à la poudre foie gras (veal shank sprinkled with foie gras) are recommended, but only the chef knows what will be available as he changes the menu daily. Tasting menus start at €52.

a whole LOTTE of nothing
dibbyfromtheblock does not recommend this,
The place was heaving with people, a good sign. Most of them locals. A better sign. After standing 20 minutes, no complaints from us except a polite question to the owner after 15 minutes, although our table was free the whole time, we finally seated at the worst seat in the house. Surely not the old school Parisian attitude to 'touristes'/Siberian visitors from another planet!??? It smelled good, and we were happy to be seated. The amuse bouche was excellent (vichychoisse) and the artichoke salade was quite good, but that's where the party ended. I ordered Lotte and my partner ordered Grouse. We both had a visceral reaction, "YEUCH!" to the grouse. It was just TOO gamey, and burnt tasting almost. The lotte was okay. Nothing to write to Mama about. The bill wasn't cheap and when it came, x2 desserts were added which were never ordered. Not the happiest way to arrive in Paris. I'd say you could do a LOTTE better.
