Mercado La Merced
Even if you don't like Ecuador's classic hornado (whole roast pig), it's worth wandering into this surprisingly clean market, where giant roasted-brown pig carcasses lay draped across dozens of countertops. Almost as fun as trying the pork is hearing what the women yell out to get your attention (like 'Hey handsome, try this pork!'). Best on Saturdays. It's located between Espejo and Colón on Guayaquil.
