Las Begonias serves sandwiches, hamburgers, espresso and ice cream on clean, glass-topped tables that give out onto the street. There's a bar behind a partition wall, clean(ish) toilets in a rear courtyard, and four or five cheap - but always crowded - internet terminals at the side.

    One of Trinidad's state-run restaurants. Crowded at lunchtime with tour groups, but quiet the rest of the time, this restaurant specializes in grilled meats. The café next door is a good place to sit down and write postcards and does the best grilled cheese sandwich in town. Local trovador (traditional singer-songwriter) Israel Moreno often drops by during the day with a song.
