Restaurants in Kelowna

  1. A

    Fresco

The Okanagan Valley's finest restaurant is also one of BC's best. Noted chef Rod Butters (definitely no relation to the winsome South Park character) celebrates the produce of the region in this exquisite location in a restored brick storefront. The menu changes constantly - a surprise find at the farmers' market can appear that night - but always features intensely flavored yet simple prepared dishes. Book ahead.

  2. B

    Birch Grill

Personality almost trumps the menu at chef Jeff Jefferson's storefront joint. But that's not bad as both are bigger than life. The open kitchen is almost as large as the smallish dining room which allows easy viewing of the action. Look for boldly flavored meat and seafood dishes. As you'd expect, local wines and produce star.

  3. C

    La Bussola

The Cultural District location is fitting. Since 1974 Franco and Lauretta Coccaro have worked to perfect their Italian supper house. The menu spans the boot, from pesto to red sauce, veal to seafood. Dine on the flower-bedecked sidewalk tables or in the stylish dining room.

  4. D

    Bouchons Bistro

A local fave in the heart of condoland, this upscale café brings a bit of French fun to Kelowna. Gallic standards are faithfully rendered using local produce - is it us or does the cassoulet here beat the cassoulet there?

  5. E

    Grateful Fed Psyche Deli

Only someone thicker than one of this deli's sandwiches wouldn't guess that this place has a rock and roll theme. There's full bar service and sidewalk tables.

  6. F

Out of Diva's Closet & Cafe

Quirky and funky are some of the more mainstream adjectives for this combo wi-fi café, coffee and tea bar, juice joint and used clothing bazaar.

  7. Farmers Market

The Farmers' Market has over 150 vendors, including many with prepared foods. Local artisans also display their wares. It's off Hwy 97.

  8. G

    Bean Scene

Has a great bulletin board to check up on local happenings while you munch on a muffin. A quieter location, Bean Scene North, offers caffeinated respite in the Cultural District.

  10. Codfathers Seafood Market

There's fresh fish of course but picnickers love the array of smoked salmon and other smoked goods. A small cafe serves chowders, fish and chips etc.

    Rotten Grape

Enjoy flights of local wines without the fru-fru in the heart of town. If you utter 'tannin, the hobgoblin of pinot' at any point, be quiet and eat some of the tasty tapas (from $10).

  14. Okanagan Grocery

Artisan and organic bakery with breads from baguettes to croissants.

    Mamma Rosa

Okay, the red-and-white checked tablecloths are plastic, but that just makes wiping up your slobber that much easier. And slobber you will over big bowls of excellent homemade pasta (about 100 varieties it seems) and more. Customize by adding meatballs, broccoli, anchovies etc.

  16. L&D Meats & Deli

Arrays of smoked meats and other deli items; good choice of deliciously good sandwiches.

    RauDZ

Noted chef Rod Butters returns with this casual bistro that is a temple to Okanagan produce and wine. The dining room is as airy and open as the kitchen and the seasonal menu takes global inspiration for Med-infused dishes good for sharing, as well as steaks and seafood. Suppliers include locally renowned Carmelis goat cheese.
