Lonely Planet review for Central Market
Satisfy both obvious and obscure culinary cravings at the 250-odd stalls in Adelaide’s superb Central Market. A gluten-free snag from the Gourmet Sausage Shop, a sliver of English stilton from the Smelly Cheese Shop, a tub of blueberry yoghurt from the Yoghurt Shop – you name it, it’s all here. Good luck making it out without eating anything.

Best City Market in Australia, hands down
nthorpe recommends this,
Right in the middle of town, human-sized, friendly, bustling and full of wise foodie vendors. Definitely have the yoghurt from the Greek Yoghurt stall, and if you're peckish, have a laksa or hot bratwurst with saurkraut. On of the great things about this spot is that it is in Chinatown, so there are lots of tempting cheap eats around - or just go to the asian food hall.
Good for: yoghurt, sausages, fresh veg, crayfish

Not to be missed!
ceracera recommends this,
The central market is a wonderful place. Whether it is for a coffee, lunch, breakfast, dinner or food shopping this is the place to go in Adelaide. Amazing selection of fresh produce as well as other food stalls selling wonderful decadent culinary delights. This is a must for anyone travelling to Adelaide. There is plenty of accommodation nearby in all price ranges and public transport is also free to get to it via the free bus or the tram. The atmosphere is vibrant and unpretentious. The best restaurants in Australia exist all within walking distance to the central market as well.

Sensory stimulation
raoamitha recommends this,
Vendore all over screaming their bargains, people around talking every language on earth , musicians on the street and the food : veggies and fruits you've never heard of,smell of aged cheese - and you get to taste it too, chinese supermarket with aisles of mushrooms and fungi. Its a feast to be in central market , let alone eating anything. the tasters sampling can fill you enough. If you'd rather sit down and eat , there's Zuma cafe - with decent food and a great view of the hustle bustle.

Adelaide Central Markets
leprekorn recommends this,
The cavernous but colourful Adelaide Central Markets are as much a tourist destination as an essential stop for gastronomes and budget caterers alike. To step through the arches and under the corrugated roofs is to take in the migration experience of South Australia in a much more mouth-watering manner than a museum could ever offer. As you stroll through, you'll be struck with tempting whiffs of coffee and chocolate from Italian cafes, while further on more Mediterranean migrants vend antipasto and cheese for the perfect picnic. Naturally, there's fresh fruit and veg for those on a tight budget (or a health kick!)
Through the hallways, the dual food courts will continue your education on Adelaide's ethnic makeup whilst offer the best budget cuisine in Adelaide. Curry Chong is a particular favourite, serving a mound of spicy stew with pilau rice for a measly $6. Most likely, Mrs Chong will be standing beaming behind her steamy offerings, happy to help. Charmingly, the side of the store is plastered in old newspaper articles about the health benefits of curry. But if fiery is not your thing, there's also enough Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese to satisfy any appetite. A must-see (and must-eat!)Good for: atmosphere, food, Solo Travellers

My Adelaide Markets
jaymee12 recommends this,
The cozy Adelaide markets are full of people with there trolleys trying to find the cheapest fruit and veg and shoppers looking for trinkets and interesting food to try. Such as my families favorite the smoked squid from a small fish spot at the end of the market hall. The under-ground feeling market is full of the strong smell of coffee beans being ground and the smell of cheese and chocolate. This contributes to the atmosphere due to it being a small market it still has alot to offer in each stall. If you follow the market through to the other side there you will find a hall. Like stepping off a bus in Asia this hall is full of small kitchens full of Thai,Chinese,Japanese and Indian food. Food fit for all! To the different tastes of steamed chicken legs to your casual fried rice or if you are vegan/vego/lacto then you are safe as well! With all your needs to bean milk to chickpeas(beautiful!!!!). If your not into Asian food then the cafes in the middle of the market have lunch style gourmet sandwiches and flavor dancing juices. The service in this food court let alone the whole market itself is so welcoming like most Adelaide-dians its unforgettable. If you travel to Adelaide then "yes" spend the afternoon at markets open your soul and your taste buds and ENJOY!

Something for everyone in the heart of Adelaide
jad_23 recommends this,
Situated in the heart of Adelaide, the Central Markets are apparently South Australia's most visited tourist attraction - and it is not hard to see why! Fresh foods, a bustling market atmosphere and many bargains to be had!
There is something on offer for everyone here ranging from meats and fish, fruits and vegetables, as well as many specialty and gourmet products - and trust me, its all the freshest you'll find in town!
Recommended for all visitors (and locals!) Just remember it's closed Sundays and Mondays!
