Biscayne National Park/USA

Introducing Biscayne National Park

Just south of Miami (and east of Homestead and Florida City) is this national park that’s 95% water. But the 5% of land is some of the most serene and secluded waterfront you’ll find. Here you can see manatees and sea turtles in four diverse ecosystems (keys, coral reef, mangrove forest and bay). Get general park information from Dante Fascell Visitor Center (305-230-7275; 9700 SW 328th St, Homestead; 9am-5pm). A park concessionaire (305-230-1100) runs three-hour glass-bottom-boat tours at 10am (adult/child under 12 $25/17), snorkel trips at 1:30pm ($35/30) and dive trips at 8:30am to weekends (per person $54), all of which require reservations. You can also rent canoes ($12) and kayaks ($16).
