Salton Sea State Recreation Area

Greater Palm Springs

This area covers 14 miles of the northeastern shore of the Salton Sea and is popular with boaters and anglers, although the fish population has been severely compromised by the lake's growing salinity. Bird-watchers flock here between October and May to observe wintering pelicans, egrets, herons and other species.

The recreation area is about 10 miles southeast of Mecca.
