Lonely Planet review for Central Airport Plaza

Anchored by a Robinson department store and, compared to Kad Suan Kaew, this mall is more upmarket with more international brands and a more affluent clientele. The Northern Village complex on the 2nd floor sells high-quality souvenirs with set prices. Silks and ready-made clothes are good buys.

The best modern shopping in town (but you could be anywhere)

    sprocketcm recommends this,

Now re-branded as CentralPlaza, Chiangmai Airport and with quite a nice exhibition centre tacked on the side, Central offers most major store outlets including Body Shop and McDonalds although why you'd come to Thailand to shop there I've no idea. The food court in the basement is great value and you can still get a good meal for 60 baht including a smoothie.

There are promotions and events in the mall almost all the time but some of the most notable are to be found in the entrance to Northern Village on the second floor. In particular, the Chiang Mai Photographic Group's annual exhibition during the last two weeks of January is worth seeking out if you are in town at that time.

Do not miss the food stalls in the basement, everything freshly prepared in front of you, we had a lovely vegetable stir fried noodle dish for 25 Baht.
