Something of an Uppsala institution, this classy konditori (bakery-cafe) dates back to the 19th century and is a cut above your average coffee-and-bun shop. It’s endorsed by no less a personage than the king, and radiates old-world charm; somehow those faded red-striped awnings just get cuter every year.

    Ofvandahls - a step back in time.

    When you are stepping in at Ofvandahls you are entering the Uppsala history. For centuries has intellectuals, often linked to university, have visited the café, discussed different theories and told each other tales.

    This café is a coffeelattepeople free zone with no prams. You will be served coffee in a traditional way, sometimes the cakes seem to have survived the Second World War as well.
    Ofvandahls offers you an experience of how Uppsala was in the 1900s. even today you can encounter the rare species that touch the beard while thinking which is not so common today (to have time to think, not the beard).
