Lonely Planet review
Always full with enormous Tamil families (and with more enormous Tamil families waiting for long rows of tables to clear), pure-veg Mangos does the best South Indian food in Jaffna. The idlis (rice cakes), dosas and uttapam (savoury rice pancake with onions, green chillies, coriander and coconut; Rs 70 to 160) shine, but the rice and curry lunch – an Indian–Sri Lankan hybrid – is also exceptional (and huge). And it’s all served by friendly staff under a massive, thatch-roof gazebo just around the corner from the temple: good vibes all around.
